In November, Burwood Council hosted a special pop-up tribute at Railway Square to celebrate AC/DC’s return to Sydney for the Power Up Tour and pay homage to the local legend, Angus Young and his brother Malcom.

As part of this tribute, Gibson generously donated a Gibson SG signed by Angus Young – the iconic guitar that helped define AC/DC’s sound. This incredible piece of rock history will be auctioned in early 2026, with all proceeds going towards the launch of the Burwood Youth Development Music Program.

This program will provide much-needed resources to local public high schools, including Ashfield Boys High (Angus’ former school) and Burwood Girls High, helping inspire the next generation of musicians. While private schools often have well-funded music programs, this initiative aims to give public schools the same opportunity to nurture talent and creativity.

The pop-up tribute featured a massive banner reading “WELCOME HOME AC/DC – From Burwood to the World”, alongside the iconic Back in Black mural by Claire Foxton, developed in consultation with Angus and his wife.

Stay tuned for details on the auction in early 2026 – this is your chance to own a legendary guitar and support a cause that will shape the future of music in our community.

Boy and Bear recently ran a competition to give away front man David Hoskin's 1954 Gibson J-45. That's not a re-issue, or an inspired by vintage model, that's an original 1954 J-45. Fearing that life on the road was becoming too much for the delicate guitar, David decided retiring it and giving it away was the best option. One Lucky Boy & Bear fan will receive the guitar that has played over 700 shows globally and a 30 mins zoom call with David by pre-ordering their new album 'Tripping Over Time'. the Competition has closed and we eagerly await the winners announcement.

Click here to listen to David talk about what the guitar and the Gibson sound means to him and also delve into the guitars replacement, a brand new Gibson SJ-200.
