Gibson introduce two new colours to the limited run Double Trouble range, Vintage Honey Burst & Vintage Bourbon Burst. For those unfamiliar, The Les Paul Standard Double Trouble delivers the features and performance of Gibson’s Les Paul Standard models but with more vintage appeal. These limited run Les Pauls differ from the Les Paul Standard models in two respects:

PICKUPS

The Burstbucker™ 1 and 2 (50s) and the Burstbucker™ 61R and 61T (60s) pickups are left uncovered, and each has Double Classic White bobbins and is fitted with the standard Alnico 2 (50s) Alnico 5 magnets (60s).

FINISH

The second difference is the finish, which are “Vintage” variations on the standard nitrocellulose lacquer finishes. The standard gloss lacquer represents finishes on brand-new models from the 1950s, while the full-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer on the Les Paul Standard Double Trouble models are slightly faded, like the subtly light vintage aging that occurs over several years. The burst patterns vary somewhat from guitar to guitar since each is individually hand-sprayed.

Of course, all the features that make the Les Paul Standard models so widely loved are all still here, including a solid, non-weight-relieved mahogany body with an AA figured maple top.
